RICS
Statutory testing and record keeping
All schools have a legal responsibility to maintain up to date Risk Assessments and regular testing records across a wide range of subjects, including:
  • Fixed electrical installation testing
  • PAT testing
  • Legionella testing and Risk Assessment
  • Water quality testing
  • Asbestos register
  • Lifting gear testing
  • Insurance testing
  • Gas safety records
  • Fire Risk Assessments
  • Fire detection and alarm system testing
This responsibility cannot be avoided, however it can be simplified by the implemtation of a phased and rolling programme of testing and checking, using a series of straightforward spread sheets.

I can establish such a regime for you and, if necessary, help you to tender the various servicing contracts.

Plant servicing

Regular servicing is essential if maximum life is to be squeezed from your plant and equipment. This may sound obvious; however I know from experience that it is an area that can slip through the net.

By establishing a simple Asset Register I can create for you a series of readily accessible schedules showing everything that requires regular servicing, and by extending that to form a Service Record spreadsheet it is quite easy to establish and monitor either external service contracts or the work of your own in house service team. The costs can be entered into the Planned Maintenance spreadsheet and so they will appear in your annual budget report.

The Asset Register will indicate such things as the age of your boilers, and by linking that information to your Planned Maintenance spreadsheet it is easy too include likely replacement costs in your forward budgeting regime.
