Library refurbishment
The conversion of the original School Hall into a modern Library containing 30,000 books and with seating for 80 readers was delivered on time and within budget.

The Grade 2 Listed building was constructed in 1862. It has a footprint of 650 sq.m. and a height of approximately 12 m. In the 1960s a reinforced concrete floor slab had been introduced through the whole of the building, effectively cutting off all natural light to ground floor level. This was removed, so that the full height of the splendid Hardwick designed Hall was able to be appreciated once more and by the clever introduction of a new split level first floor structure through part of the building, the book store and reader capacity were achieved. A new stained glass window was commissioned for the West window.
