Conversion of a house into a new girls' hostel with Houseparent accommodation
Faced with a shortage of girls boarding accommodation it was decided to convert a large private house into an overflow hostel to house 8 girls, together with accommodation for the Houseparent.
4 double en-suite rooms were planned, together with the usual social rooms, laundry and buttery. The private side was straightforward enough, needing only some careful consultation with the new Houseparent. Planning Permission for the necessary Change of Use was quite easily obtained, despite the need to extend the original house and convert the garage.
This proved to be an effective way of providing the necessary additional capacity and the pay back period for the development was very short indeed.
