Works Department
Most schools employ a number of tradesmen in their Works or Grounds Departments. Many use a paper based Works Order Chit system for requesting repairs and sometimes communication between the Works Department and the academic staff is not as good as you would like. I have first hand experience of most of the problems that you might experience and can:

Review the execution of ‘Works Orders’ by the Maintenance Department and report on:
  • alternative methods of submitting Works Order Chits (paper based / email / intranet)
  • acknowledgment of order and allocation of code for timely completion
  • methods of improving lines of communication between the Department and the general school community
  • appropriate software packages for reporting and monitoring works order chits
Audit the performance of your Works Department in terms of:
  • staffing levels and mix of tradesmen
  • performance levels and response times
  • the placing of orders with outside contractors
  • budget setting and monitoring
  • servicing contracts for plant and machinery
